How do I figure out how much material I need to have a chair recovered?

Have a club chair that I want to have recovered eventually. In the meantime I would like to be looking for the perfect fabric at a great price. Thanks for your help.

Measure all aspects of the chair: seat, sides, back, inside and out. Take a picture, and go to a fabric store. The clerks there will give you a really close estimate. It’s going to vary with the fabric, so get a professional estimate.
