is our society going in the right directions with all single parent families?

In my opinion a child needs both mum and dad in his/her life and a child’s social development is not complete without one of them,,,,,,,,,,,,,,sadly enough the trend of one parent family is on the rise and i think this will really damage the fabric of our society in the long term………………..what do you people think………..

The issue is there’s not much that can be done to change it. People get divorced and custody is shared….women get pregnant outside of marriage and the father may not be in the picture much, if not all.

Whatever result on the children and society is has to be dealt with after the fact, as we cannot force people to stay married that don’t want to…can’t ensure they are making more wise marriage choices initially…and cannot prevent women from having children out of wedlock/relationship.

I think it benefits a child to be raised in a 2 parent household, but that kids can also grow up quite healthy and well adjusted being raised in a 1 parent household. Just as they can be ill adjusted and traumatized and poorly raised in a 2 or 1 parent household. Having 2 parents present doesn’t automatically ensure the parents will do a good job and the environment will be healthy.
