help with math questions!?

If i could get an answer and explanation to how those answers were gotten …thanks!

1)Two points on a line are (6,13) and (2,5). What is the slope of the line?

2)Samantha bought four pounds of coffee for $4.49 per pound. The next day it went on sale for 15% off. How much would she have saved if she had waited a day to buy?

3)Suzette is making curtains for her two bedroom windowns. She needs yardage as wide as both windows. The windows are 36″ high x 6 feet long. How many yards of fabric does she need to buy?

1) The slope of a line given its end points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is given by

slope (m) = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

so substituting the given values we have

m = (5 – 13) / (2 – 4) = -8 / -2 = 4

2) Here the amount of coffee Samantha bought is irrelevant because she bought the same amount the next day

So we have

Original Cost Price per pound = 4.49

Discounted Price per pound = 4.49 – 15%of 4.49

= 4.49 – 0.15 x 4.49

= 4.49 x (1 – 0.15)

= 4.49 x 0.85

= 3.8165 = 3.82

So she would have saved 4.49 – 3.82 = $0.67 per pound

So in effect she would save a total of 4 x 0.67 = $2.68

3) height of each window is 36″ = 3 feet = 1yard

Length of each window = 6 feet = 2 yards

so area of each window = 1 x 2 = 2 sq yards.

so total area = area of 2 windows = 2 x 2 = 4 sq yards.

So she would need 4 sq yards of fabric for the 2 wondows.
