When you enter the quilt shop and are greeted by walls of quilting fabric, so bright and colorful, you might just find yourself overwhelmed by the possibilities. To some people, the choice of fabric for quilting his masterpiece is the most exciting part of the process. His creative juices flowing, is surrounded by beautiful designs and prints, and everything is possible.

But not all are equal quilting fabrics. Some are better than others, and when you enter the store, you can not let the bright colors and complicated patterns of deception. There are many things under the surface.

Does the color go on fingers? Doing so is not likely to fade, which is not a good sign. Always good quilting fabric label colors in the material. After all, how serving all the wonderful colors and patterns in the material if we just disappear and go deaf after the first wash?
Another way to ensure that is receiving good quilting fabric is unwinding the screw enough to get a good look at the print and colors. Consistency is an important indicator of quality material. Does the color fade in some parts? Does the design overlap in some places? These could easily ruin an otherwise beautiful quilt.

So why go through the hassle of finding the right quilting fabric – especially if you can find the impression of it for cheaper with a discount store? Is not that enough?

The short answer is no. When you are creating something so intricate and beautiful as the masterpiece of your quilt, not the time for spare. And when it comes to material, you really get what you pay. The discount can carry the same impression, but may be printed on a bottom fabric. Take time to look for quality indicators of good quilting fabric, and then these wonderful prints and patterns that were calling you the first time I entered the store will last lifetime.
