Who has been to the Vera Bradley Outlet Sale?

I’d like as much info. as possible about the yearly event in Ft. Wayne, IN. For example, how is the auditorium set up? Tables full of merchandise? Are the items are displayed by pattern or by style? How do you check out? Are there carts? Is this where fabric is available for sale? If not, where? Are you allowed re-entry to the event during the same session? I have tickets for the afternoon and evening session the first day and would like ANY information you can give me. Thanks!

Hello!

The auditorium is set up in rows of tables. Lots of tables! The bags are displayed by type, and then sorted into color. The doors you enter the auditorium in are the same doors you exit to check out, basically it’s like a huge grocery check out, and if you wait a little bit after the initial rush of people checking out it goes pretty smoothly. Last year (2006) the spending limit was $2500 per person. There are no carts provided but large garbage bags instead. I recommend grabbing a few of them as they fill quickly. They do not offer raw fabric nor have they ever and I doubt they will. Also, re-entry is not permitted so I suggest you get what you want A.S.A.P.! I’ve heard that the volunteers restock and put out some of the held-back merchandise later in the day with each rush (morning, afternoon, evening). Also, sometimes they will auction off limited edition items (and I do mean limited) – the money from the auctions also goes to their breast cancer research fund.

All I can say is arrive early, bring your own newspaper cart or some kind of rolling equipment, you’ll be thankful later!

I’ve included a link to a photograph from last year’s sale. This was the presale event, the non-ticketed sale is wild, wild place to be! Remember to have fun!
