Are fabric patterns copyrighted?

I want to buy fabric from a chain fabric store, make bags out of it, and sell the bags. Would this be legal? If people could give me links where they found the info, that would be great. I’m really stumped.

Yes you can. Even though the pattern may be copyrighted, you are not duplicating the fabric, you are making something out of it. It would be like selling something that uses Velcro. You’re not saying that you made the fabric, you just made the bag! Good luck with your business!
