Fabric Bags To Make

Looking for a project very simple sewing kit that is quick and easy to sew? Here is how to sew a fabric shopping bag.
Help the environment environment for several sewing shopping bags for yourself or give as gifts. Children can use for toy bags when they go to grandma's house. They are great travel bags, too.
He loves to go fabric shopping bags. Use them for all sorts of things besides making the purchase.
Use up some of his stash and make a few today! Give your favorite charity. Love them!
Fabric:
Use whatever material you want to use. Try cotton cloth, upholstery fabrics, fake suede, leather, fabric, jeans, etc. You may prefer to use washable fabrics so you can whiten your bags.
1-1/4 feet fabric 45 inches wide will be two (2) bags.
Preshrunk and straighten the fabric.
Cutting Instructions:
Cut a 19-1/2 inch panel wide by 41 inches long for each bag.
Cut (preferably in long grain) two (2) handles for each bag 4 inches wide by 17 inches long. Is easier to cut and sew a long strip of 4 inches by 34 inches and then cut in half.
Sewing Instructions:
Fold the bag panel in half and press a crease in the bottom.
Press a 1 inch hem at the top of the bag.
Fold the edge and press again making double hemmed.
Repeat for the front and the back of the bag.
Let cool on your ironing board and then open the back hem.
NOTE: If you are applying pockets, appliques, embroideries, etc., to the bag, do so now, before sewing the side seams.
Make sure hems are open and about 1 / 2 inch from side to make the seams of the bag. (serge or sew).
Trim seam allowance to 1 / 4 inch zig-zag to the end the edges.
Press seams.
Lower the double hem and stitch in place.
Press.
While pressing the hem, determine center front and rear center folding bag so that the side seams line up and press a light crease at the top of the bag. This will help Replace the handles.
Make belts
Press a piece of 4 inch wide strap in half to establish a fold.
Open back and bring the edges toward the center crease down.
Press.
Now fold in the original crease and press again.
The borders are closed.
Edgestitch on both sides of the strap 34 inches long term.
Reduce by half to 17 inches to make two handles.
Zigzag raw ends.
Place the mark and Strap Handles
At the edge bag, measure both sides of the front center and rear center of the bag about 1-3/4 inches and make a mark. This allows 3-1/2 inches between the handles.
Place the inside edge of the handle in this brand of glue in a zig-zag the edge of the handle with the bottom of the bag. Pin in place.

The box bottom of the bag

You can leave these triangles folded down at the bottom of the bag or can cut them off and finish the edges with stitches serge or zigzag.
The lower bearing (not really needed)
Also, you may want to cover a cardboard with fabric to put in the bottom of the bag for added support. This can be removed to wash the bag.
Cut the cardboard 7 inches wide x 11-1/2 inches long.
Cut the fabric a little larger.
/ Fabric glue to fuse the cardboard.
Tip: Fold the bag when the load is extra heavy. Do double layer or simply place a bag inside the other when necessary.
Enjoy your shopping bag fabric
Use it to bag all you want and anywhere.
Make the handles longer if you want to carry the bag over his shoulder.
Add your special ornaments, applications, monogram, embroidery, paintings, etc. for the bag is uniquely yours.
Add interior pockets in different sizes to keep your keys, portfolio, etc.
