Help with my fabric choice?

I have just begun to learn to sew, and I have purchased a book on how to sew baby clothes, and now i need to buy fabric. I want a lightweight cotton fabric that regular basic onesies are usually made of. Is it a cotton jersey fabric, what are some good fabrics? I am trying to shop online for the fabrics I need, could someone please give me some good brands, and maybe exactly what some good fabrics are called? thanks!!

cotton jersey would be a good choice for that. or any other light cotton knit fabric. Also cotton batiste is a good choice, but it doesn’t stretch so has to be made large enough to give ample room for baby to grow.
