Fabric By The Yard Online

Where can I find scarf fabric by the yard?

I’m looking for satin/charmeuse silky fabric preferably a paisley or floral print scarf fabric sold by the yard. I’m looking for the kind that is already divided in panels.

I’ve looked at Joann’s Fabric and Wal-mart as well as looking online. Maybe I just don’t know the proper terms to search it out.

I’d like to use it to make scarf skirts and dresses.

Kay is correct. Paneled scarf yardage is rare to find in retail stores. I have been a seamstress for 38 years and have only bumped into what you are looking for one time and the fabric was ugly.

Go ahead and select the raw yardage and do not be afraid to make a scarf from scratch. To cut a straight line, cut into the selvage and pull out a thread or two at a time to create a run the width of the fabric. This will be your cutting line. If you are making a 9″ scarf, cut the selvage once, then again in 10″. Trim off the selvages. Hem all sides and you have yourself a scarf.

You may want to select yardage that has a boarder on each selvage so your scarf will have a boarder at the ends.

Good Luck.
