Should I give modeling a shot?

I am 14 years and i am extremely passionate about fashion design. I want to be a part of the fashion industry. I want to explore cosmetology, make-up, modeling and photography: anything that will help me conquer my dream. I would like to either get an internship or model. I want/need money for a mannequin and a new sewing machine as well as fabrics. I love modeling and i would love to give it a try especially since I am fascinated by avante guarde/high fashion photo shoots. The thing is that I need money, I don’t want to spend it. I would like know if it would be worth it to go down to a modeling agency a give this a try and if i am going to be require to spend an exceeding amount of money.
Does anyone have any useful information/personal experiences they would like to share to discourage/encourage me?
Can anyone tell me how this modeling stuff works?
I am not afraid of being rejected, I’m afraid of spending money.

Thank you!

I think you should follow your dream and do what makes you happy. Your passion will help lead to success. I have two friends, one is a hollister model, she was asked to do it by a store manager because she had the look they wanted. Most clothing store models are asked by the store themselves to do it. You will need a portfolio to model for a fashion label or agency. Send in your best pictures that show a varoety of poses and looks, you’ll need some creativity in your pictures. You can go to fashion school or a college to major in fashion design, photography, etc. Take classes in fine arts and communication before taking advanced fashion design classes. You’ll need to pay a fee to send in a portfolio or get an appointment for a modeling agency and those can be expensive, starting in the hundreds of dollars, and there’s no guarantee they’ll accept you. At your age, I’d recommend developing your drawing, sewing, and other art skills through high school classes or other activities. Also consider working at a clothing store that has store models, such as hollister, abercrombie and fitch, etc.
