OK. So I have decided to take the plunge and start quilting. The challenge is that you do not feel comfortable with your sewing machine. What you need are some projects easy it started, but do not feel you are wasting your time. The following list of projects make great gifts, and also have a great practice when to meet your quilt first.
Wallets
Portfolios are wonderful. What I'm thinking in particular, is the model for Wonder Wallet Lazy Girl Designs. I have made many of these as they are easy and convenient. Over Christmas I was used as the holders of gift cards. Because we only use the half fat quarter, novelty prints can go crazy without taxing the budget. With this pattern, you will get used to sew in a straight line and use your foot to foot.
Once you are confident of portfolios, their next project may be a quilted bag.
Pillowcases
Cases pillows are all straight lines. Again, using novelty prints, makes great gifts for young children. Pillowcases I made last Christmas High School Musical flannel. My nieces loved them!
Another benefit is that once they feel confident in your abilities, you can make a quilt from the same cloth. The recipient receive both the quilt and pillow covers. Now he is on top!
Coasters
People who work in the offices of appreciating a set of mountains to keep their jobs in Nice. The update for this project placemats to match the coasters.
Bookmarks
A padded Bookmark is the perfect gift for the reader in the family. You can choose the fabric and design according to hobbies of the recipient. Addendum of a book with this gift would be a nice touch. Another option is just to make a bookmark by itself. I know I have difficulty keeping them.
Tote Bags
You can easily find tote bag patterns all over the Internet for good reason – they are easy and convenient. If fact, you can have a handbag for different reasons. You could have a bag to the grocery store, a bag to the library and work bag. You'll learn to sew in a straight line. If you're ready for your branch, you could use a quilt as a decoration on the bag.
Start out bags, pillowcases, coasters, bookmarks and bags will have to find a comfortable position with her sewing machine at any time. While you are producing beautiful gifts made hand, will also be preparing yourself to start quilting.
