Sometimes we look at the backs of our closets while we are cleaning out and found an old article of clothing with a substance diffused everywhere. If you find something like this in the back of your closet, the best thing to do is let go immediately and wash hands. What was driving a piece of clothing that has been contaminated with mold and has been advised not to touch the mold spores with your bare hands. This will possibly cause an allergic reaction or just some rash, but anyway, there are probably consequences of trying.
Most garments that are contaminated with mold can be cleaned the mold and remove it, but most often ends up leaving the mold stains. Using bleach to remove stains can be effective if it is mold in the linen, but this is not always the case and bleach is ineffective to kill mold on porous surfaces. You can use a brush to remove most of the mold and place a pre-wash spray on it; let this soak for about 45 minutes and put through the washing machine. After this, allow them to dry naturally in the sun outside. Using an artificial source heat for drying clothes can set the stain further into the tissue and if it is white clothes, the sun can actually help whiten the tissue.
If that works to eliminate mold and mildew stains from something that was made with real leather, you probably will not have any luck. Items made of leather easily fade and mildew ago a good job of this. Can not be restored after contact with the mold.
You can clean upholstery or curtains that have come in contact with the mold using the same method described above, one of the best purchases you can do to keep your home free of mold is a vacuum that has a HEPA filter in it. Use this vacuum and brush to suck all of the mold and spores, the filter will ensure that the spores are not re-released in the air in your home after being collected.
