Does anyone know where to get free samples of tissue / samples?

Fabric stores in the Chicago area are not too interested in give samples / samples and if they do are the Itty Bitty. Does anyone know of any websites or anything that offer free samples of clothing? I am a serious student broke fashion design: (

This may sound silly at first, but go to a thrift shop and see that they have some good stuff, but some damage to him so that you can not sell and you may be able to get some of it free for what they need rather than having to throw them away ..
