Fabric stores in southeastern Massachusetts?

I live in southeastern Massachusetts, near New Bedford. I can’t seem to find any decent, independently owned fabric stores in the area. I have to get everything at Jo-ann’s and Wal-Mart, and I’m looking for unusual stuff that they don’t carry. I’m about 30 minutes from 2 different art colleges, so I think there must be a good fabric store in the area that I don’t know about. Any suggestions? I’ll drive as far west as Providence, as far east as Cape Cod.

Hi … my first choice would be to phone RISD in Providence and ask them; it’s likely they’d know of a good source.

Second choice: A long drive for you, but Murray’s Fabrics on Route 28 in Orleans is a good, independently owned fabric shop.
