Are you worried about what clothes you are wearing are from? Absolutely, but most of us think of the simple two-dimensional materials, fiber natural and artificial synthetic fibers. As always, life is much more complicated than that and deserves some explanation.

The 'natural' … wool, cotton and silk … are the preference of most of the material that many of us, but at the same time are classified according to the source, many synthetic products called also derived from natural products. Thus, the fibers which are natural of animal origin such as wool from sheep and lambs, mohair and cashmere goats, Angora rabbits and silkworm silk. Others are of plant origin such as cotton and linen, and even more are derived from minerals. So far so good, but if you look in the synthetic fibers commonly known as we find many that are, in fact, from natural materials, mainly wood and pulp or plant fiber cotton. The most common example of this type of rayon fiber.

In contrast, man-made fibers are produced by the polymerization of synthetic chemicals in the typical examples are nylon and polyester. Polyesters were originally developed in 1941 by chemists of the Association Calico Printers in the UK and has been commercially available since 1953.

'Synthetic' to a materials scientist by combining several elements into a whole, but most of us means "artificial" but much less artificial than synthetic ones. There is no doubt that there must be some index more precise terms. Take 'Micro Modal ", for instance, sounds almost industrial and scientific and probably not the kind of thing that we bring along to the skin. In fact, this fabric is made from plants and pulp is spun beechwood. The apparel industry is not like a lot, because it is lightweight, soft and soft and feels like silk. So where does this put natural fibers? Designers and manufacturers are constantly trying to do their work clothing and behave better. The ideal is a fabric that is soft but holds its shape, hangs well and can get out of a washing machine look as good as new. This can be found in natural materials that have been refined to make them better for work, easy to use and offers more flexible fold resistance, do not iron, washable and soft. In the case of mixed fabrics, modal, for example, when mixed with linen, silk and wool or polyester blended with cotton and wool provide highly viable properties similar to those of man-mades.

At the end is what the producers of garments with fabrics available to them that counts.
