Examples of technical/SMART/green fabrics?

Doing some textiles coursework and I need to show that I have considered using technical/SMART/green fabrics to make my final product (a screen divider, the screen is made of a wooden frame and fabric panels). The fabrics I consider need to relate to this product.
Help please? x

Green could be recyclable – how about yarn made from some funky material – plastic bottles perhaps. Or locally sourced – saves energy. Metal fabrics could be re-cycled/recyclable – some sort of sheer would be good – which looks solid when lit from one side, fairly transparent when lit from both sides.
