Ideas for a fleece blanket…?

I’m making a friend of mine (a guy friend) a fleece blanket as a graduation present. I haven’t bought fabric yet, but I’d like ideas (not too expensive preferably). I also haven’t yet decided if I’d like to make it no-sew, or one that requires sewing, so if anybody has any good pattern ideas for sewing an adult-size fleece blanket that would be cool. So, now my real question: I want to sew his favorite Bible verse on it somewhere, I was thinking along the border maybe? How would I go about doing that? It doesn’t need to be super fancy, but I’d like it to look nice, since it is his graduation gift…any other cool ideas would be much appreciated, so feel free to comment. Thanks! ♥

Good fleece isn’t cheap. And you need to figure out how long you want it to be. The width is going to be about 50″ on fleece, so it you want it wider you will have to sew it.
Unless you know of someone with a home embroidery machine, getting this done can cost you a bit. You could hand embroidery it, but that would be a lot of work to do a whole verse.
Why don’t you do it in the colors of his new college. And just embroider his name or initials on the blanket
