How to cover a t-shirt with fabric?

Even though halloween is a little while away, i wanted to start to work on my costume since i would be fairly busy with my schoolwork during the school year. I couldn’t find a good, inexpensive pattern for a basic t-shirt, so I decided that I would purchase some newspaper print fabric (im gonna be a newspaper) and cover a plain old t-shirt with it. How would I go about doing this? The shirt is fitted, yet the fabric is 100% cotton. I wouldn’t want the end result to be baggy, but I know cotton isn’t exactly a fitted material. How should I go about doing this? Remember: Best answer gets 10 pts!

Don’t try to cover a t-shirt with another fabric. Either do a ruboff of the existing t to make a pattern (your newspaper print will need to be of the same stretchiness as the original shirt) or buy a pattern, which are $1-2 regularly at chain fabric stores like Hancock or Joann.

Hancock has Butterick patterns for $0.99 this Thursday through Saturday.
For a fitted t, I’d suggest B5215 view A for knits; B5053 for wovens. You’ll probably want to refit the side seams of B5053.

You cannot subsitute a woven for a knit in a fitted t pattern.
