What is eco friendly PET fabric?
So I saw a storage bag labled:
“This storage bag is made of eco-friendly PET fabric (70% made from plastic water bottles) with a fashionable black herringbone pattern”
lol
PET is polyetheylene terephlatate, which is the feedstock for making polyester fabric. So it’s probably 70% recycled origin polyester.
Definitely more “green” than a lot of greenwashed products, including fabrics.
One thing to think about, however… the greenest choice is the stuff you don’t use… if this is a purchase that will last you many years and you’ll actually use it often, then it’s a better choice than a greenwashed item that you’ll discard after a few uses.
