Printers Fabric

How do you transfer images onto fabric using freezer paper?

Hi,
I am feeling totally defeated & ignorant right about now! I guess I am not grasping the concept of the freezer paper. I have read where you can use your printer and insert the fabric, but I am not fond of this idea and do not want to do it that way. Just iron image on is pretty much what I am after. What I am doing is I want to make “tags” for items that I sew. Or I will take some advice on how to make nice tags for my items. Any help appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Here is what I have done so far.

I printed out my image onto the flat side (not shiny) of the freezer paper
On a scrap piece of material I tried to iron on the image
I flipped the paper over and set the fabric onto the backside of my image and ironed, nothing worked. (Ironed directly onto the fabric.)

The reason for inserting it into the printer is because the freezer paper is already stuck on the fabric, wax side down. The fabric probably absorbs the ink as it is being printed and bleeds through the now uncoated wax paper, before the ink dries.

Maybe if you ironed the actual wax paper, with the wax side down on the fabric it would transfer. Try it on both a regular setting and with a steam setting and see what your results are. If it doesn’t work another option would be to be use photo transfer sheets.

Below is the link to the step-by-step instructions on the freezer paper method on someone’s blog. She can probably answer any further questions you have.

Hope this helps.
