heat transfer printing method for fabrick ?what fabrics can be used ? and how ?

I need information about heat transfer printing method for fabric(textile)

This can be achieved several ways for any fabric or substrate (wood, metal, china etc) using different transfer paper and/or inks.

1st: For 100% cotton you use plastisol inks and for mixed cotton/polyester you can use dye sublimation inks – remember to buy prewashed fabric or be prepared to get your marigolds out or see your designs fade fast! :)

2nd: Your designs will have to be corrected depending on the color of the garment – using RIP software.

3rd: You can apply these inks using Inkjet printers, Laser printers or traditional screen printing methods onto the specially coated transfer paper OR print direct onto the fabric/t-shirt using specially adapted Epson InkJet.

4th: Sit with a pair of scissors and cut out your design or invest in a Roland cutting machine to do it effortlessly for you.

5th: You then have to press the transfer onto the fabric using heat to activate the special inks to bond with the fabric. You can use a household iron or a swanky air operated heat press for approx 15-30 secs for each transfer.

…As you can imagine, depending on your budget, there are many options. Go get a coffee, and meet the gang over at the screen printers forums below. Have a good read through “Digital Printing” forum threads before posting this question to everyone – there have been many upcoming printers that have started where your from…including me! – enjoy it and be prepared to be guided in making YOUR right decision based on location, orders, budget, type of hand(feel of print), local availability and quick delivery of inks and paper and fabric compared to speed of service in repair of printers, heatpress etc – Phew, I’m off to get a coffee!!!
