Can I recut my suits from a size 48 to a 46/44?

I recently have lost a lot of weight and my suits are huge on me. I used to wear a 48 regular but just got fitted today and was between a 44L and a 46L. Most of my suits are pretty expensive (super 110′s and 120′s) and I hate to throw them away. But I also realize that a poor fitting suit is a poor fitting suit, regardless of fabric or quality.

Usually a tailor should be able to fix your problem.
