Fabric Walls & Starch?

I’m very interested in using fabric and starch to decorate my walls (http://www.decorate-bedrooms-for-less.com/fabric-walls.html) but I was wondering if when you place the panels side by side, will there be an obvious line from where one panel ends and the next starts? Has anyone tried this technique and have pictures of the finished product?

Hi, sorry no pictures. But I can tell you I just now got real close, looking for seams and could only find one. That is where I didn’t use enough starch when putting the material back up after I took it down to wash it. But of course I put up material that was a continuous pattern of small flowers, and has a dark blue background. Maybe if I was using a different pattern,a lighter one, you might be able to notice . I also just went in to look at the bedroom wall, and yes, you can see a line. That is if you are looking for it. Like wallpaper ,it depends if you match up the lines with the next continuous pattern lines. Which in the case of the bedroom, I got the rows mixed up and didn’t match them up . Like if you were putting up a pattern of people, and didn’t get the hands matched up to where the arm ended. I will never again put wallpaper on the walls. I don’t like it,it is hard to work with, takes a long time to do, is messy, it is hard to match and if you don’t, you can’t take it off to correct it without tearing it. Wallpaper is expencive, and it doesn’t have the color and selection you are looking for, plus you need to buy alot of extra tools to put it up with. Using material, you can just use Liquid starch, then just smooth it on with your hand. If you get it in the wrong place, you can take it off and re apply it as many times as you want. You can also take it off, wash it in the washing machine then put it back on. The starch dries clear,so you don’t see it. If you can cut a straight line, and match the patterns, you will have to look very hard to find the seams. Also, when putting it up,you might have to spray both the material and the wall. Depending on what kind of material you use. The one in the bedroom was a very heavy cotton, and that’s what I had to do,but what a pleasure it was to put up compared to the dreadful job of putting up wallpaper. I’ll never do wallpaper again! And by the way, if you want to take it down ,just take an edge and pull. Just like opening a christmas present, and just about as hard. And the starch doesn’t leave gunk all over the walls,so there is no steaming, buckets of hot water, scrapeing, or crap all over the floors. Just a slight pull with two little fingers without the mess! Byee
